LACSC Office & Research Lab

LACSC Office and Research Lab are currently located in the northern area of the capital city Beirut. LACSC has also a mailing address in Dayton, Ohio, United States, which is used for correspondence between Lebanon and some of the members who are located in the US and Canada.

LACSC Research Lab houses a Computer Room and a Library which provide a working area for supporting computing research and development.

The Computer Room

The computer room contains 10 microcomputers fully equipped with the latest system and application software and a broadband Internet connection. These software include but not limited to Windows XP, Windows 7, Linux, MS Office 2010, MS Project 2010, MS Visio 2010, Corel Suite X6, Adobe Suite CS5, AutoCAD 2011, 3DsMAX 2010, Sony Sound Forge, Nero Burning ROM 11, SQL Server 2008, MySQL, SyBase, Oracle 11g, Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate, Visual Studio 6.0, Wireshark, N-map, Matlab 2011, OmniPage 17, NetBeans 7, and Encyclopaedia Britannica 2012.

The computer room also contains two high-end server computers powered with Intel Xeon processors and 64GB RAM and MS Windows Server 2008, configured to provide IIS, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, SMTP, and POP services.
Additionally, the servers can be used to carry out theoretical as well as experimental research in parallel and distributed computing. They are for this reason equipped with a bunch of APIs for parallel computation such as MPI, MPI.NET, OpenMP, RMI, .NET Remoting, and .NET Task Parallel Library.
In addition to these two local servers, the computer room has remote access to a Virtual Private Server (VPS) and several hosting services managed by GoDaddy.Inc, USA.

The computer room also has networking facilities as it provides a 1Gbps Ethernet network with a Cisco router, a 16-port switch, and a Cisco ASA 5500 firewall. Besides wired network, there exists a Wireless 802.11b/g/n network with a Cisco Linksys E4200 Dual Band N Internet Router.

The computer room also has printing facilities as it provides an HP color LaserJet printer, an HP scanner, an HP LaserJet multifunction device, and a Canon color photocopy machine.

The Library

LACSC has a small library for lab usage. It consists of over 150 textbooks on various computer science, computer engineering, and electronics topics including Programming Languages, Compiler Design, Theory of Computation, Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Data Structures, Web Programming, Digital Systems, Data Communication, and Data Security.
